we got a hold of Carolyn for Mitchells. Their booked up for the May long weekend. We'll buy a camping permit and venture I guess.

The area closer to diamond will be open.  But this year there could still be ice on parts of the lady at that time

good though, for sure play it by ear.
im down east of Peterborough and the river mouths are open and there's open water in places  but on Crowe Lake you could still walk out a week ago and cut a hole in 12 inches of ice 50 feet from the ice edge. Hooked some small pics and a few Pike and watched half dozen swans and some geese at the ice edge .
We got rain for three days now and the temp will work its magic here in the next week I would think.

The ice isn't going quickly on Simcoe. Walked out yesterday and drilled through 16+ inches of pretty firm ice.

Thanks John. I'll keep checking in as it gets closer.

still 8-10 inches in spots down here too. Real slow thaw for sure.

says more dirty snow and rain cutting across this afternoon.

Holy crap, talk about late spring.
I was wondering how the camps and lodges would be making out with this dirty spring weather?

For the inland lakes, does anyone have any guesses as to when the ice will be out? Almost lake trout time  ;D ...
