Rod leash made cheap.
« on: May 03, 2014, 05:28:13 pm »
Hello all.
I wanted to share a very inexpensive rod/gear leash I made at home.
This idea was from a site I found online and I copied it the best I could.

The cable cuffs, small, are from Home Depot, $1.50/ea.

Green coiled line is from deal extreme, $2.68 for 16'. I cut it in half to get 2, 8' lengths.
The carbiners are also from deal extreme, .45¢/ea.

A slight mod to the cable cuff was needed and I also replaced the cheap small screw at the pivot point with a 4-40 bolt and a Nyloc nut.

I can get approximately 7' of stretch out of them.
 Not bad for under $4!

Nice one Roy!

I stopped using leashes on my rods but those would be awesome for pliers, and all the other tools that get used.
