Commitment problems! Lol
« on: June 07, 2018, 10:16:27 pm »
Hi guys.  I’m hoping for some help here.  I’ve had more pike follow my lure to the boat this year than I have in a long time.  The problem is I usually only get 1 or 2 into the boat for a pic and release.  How do I get these other followers to bite?  It’s usually about 10-12 feet away when I see them.  Thanks

I change the speed of retrieve to get them to commit
Most times speed up but other times slow right down and they run right into it

Any particular lure that you are using? I was throwing spinners last time I was out and noticed quite a few followers that were not committing. Put on some polarized shades and figure 8. If you see a fish at boat side, keep figure 8-ing until it strikes or swims off. "Mrbeee" has given some good advice as well.

Thanks guys I will try different speeds and figure eights. Maybe it’s just not my year. Two days ago I was fishing and watched a pike inhale my spinner. It was fully in his mouth! Only the leader was sticking out his mouth. I tried to set the hook and I pulled it straight out of his mouth lol.    Oh well.  At least I’m out there fishing.

Follow up baits.   Wacky rig a big 10in sluggo and see what happens.
