Hi all. Frank here. Cottage in Lafontaine area for about 12 years, boat in Penetang. Boat is a sea ray cruiser but set up for down rigging salmon and trout.   We take it up north as well and use the 10 ft dinghy for fishing when we are there. Been fishing most of my 50 yrs, but not nearly enough in the last 5 yrs

Welcome
Sounds like your set up for warm and cold water fishing. I hope you get more of it in this year.

Hey John, great forum...Bruce here...

Hi all - we are long time cottagers on Christian Island.  We have an 18 foot fishing boat and a CS22 sailing boat, both with downriggers.  Yes, we are rednecks...

We are now back fishing salmon after about 5 very dry years on the Bay.  Last year we did very well, even in the lee of Christian Island.

Good luck to all...

Hey Bruce
Good to hear from you and welcome to the board.

I'll have to make a trip out to Christian one day soon.

Hi All

My name is Geoff and I love to chase Pike, Walleye and Bass. I own a Bass Boat and I love Georgian Bay. Would like to retire in Sturgeon Bay area some day, been fishing for over 30 years. I live in New Hamburg and I'm happily married with 2 children 1 that likes to fish and the other a musician. I fish the Sturgeon Bay area 3-4 times per year, not enough! This forum is informative and I hope to see you on the water.

Hello all, I am Kevin , 53 small craft boater all my life. Just picked up a 20' I/O for the first time. Plan to slip it in Lions Head. It is a 1968 StarCraft Day Cruiser picked up from the widow of the original owner. 250 Mercruiser. Plans include to replace the soft floor and worn rug, reupholster the sleeps seats and rear seats and add two helmsman seats. The fiberglass is perfect as it was always stored inside. Came with down riggers and some outdated electronics. I will keep the installed fish finder as back up and add my new hummer 581 ID GPS fish finder and a new digital VHF.
I have always had a smaller boat and trailer-ed the small inland lakes.
I have taken the power squadron basic nav course, hold a VHF tag and plan to take the electronic nav course this winter.
Looking forward to trying some boating and fishing in the Georgian next summer.

Welcome cdn1972
Sound like you have some ambitious plans for your new boat but it should be worth in the end. One thing about fixing up an old boat is you know exactly what you have when your finished.

Good luck and good fishing.
