The Toronto Sportsmen's Show Announces Move to Exhibition Place

Iconic Show Returns Home to Direct Energy Centre February 7-10, 2013

TORONTO, May 10, 2012 /CNW/ - Walter Oster, Chairman, CEO of the Canadian National Sportsmen's Shows, is pleased to announce that The Toronto Sportsmen's Show is coming home to the Direct Energy Centre at Exhibition Place. The show that for 65 years has celebrated the Great Outdoors, will now, once again take place at its long-time location, February 7-10, 2013.

"We're proud to be moving back to the very place the Toronto Sportsmen's Show called home for 62 years -- Exhibition Place," said Oster. "We look forward to hosting more than 123,000 visitors that come to the show each year to learn about conservation and celebrate Canada's outdoors."

As Canada's largest outdoor show with more than 500 exhibitors displaying the newest selection of gear and products for camping, fishing, boating, hunting and hiking, The Toronto Sportsmen's Show has entertained millions of people by bringing nature to the city. Popular entertainment and education features include a kids' trout pond, fishing simulators, archery instruction for adults and children, live birds of prey, dog shows and kayak demonstrations to name a few.

"In 2013 the 66th edition of this iconic show will return to the Exhibition Place complete with the Hunting Hall, Fishing, Adventure, Boats and Family Entertainment," added Oster. "We look forward to our new home and will continue to fulfill our mandate by entertaining and finding new ways to bring the outdoors to life."

The Toronto Sportsmen's Show, part of the Canadian National Sportsmen's Shows (CNSS), first took place in Toronto in 1948 under the leadership of world-famous outdoorsman, author and dedicated conservationist, Frank Kortright, who devoted his life to protecting Canada's wilderness. Sixty five years later, CNSS has helped protect Canada's outdoors with grants in excess of $32 million. Community programs launched by CNSS include "Kids Fishing Day," which allocates more than 6,500 fishing kits to kids each year.
