Title: Parry Sound Area

Hi All,
I had this on the Simcoe message board but I should have put it up here. So...
I will be visiting family up by Parry Sound in a couple of weeks and will be staying on a small island close to Franklin island (on the east side). I've never fished the area and am wondering what I might be able to target. I have a canoe or kayak but no motor boat.
What's up there waiting for me? Any suggestions on what to look for, use for hooks, etc?

Hmmmmm. I guess I'm not sure. I don't even know what is up there. Never fished there. Would you have a suggestion as to what might get me the most action from a kayak? I'm not too fussy.

I fish Waub. more often then not... Out my kayak, I found the best strategy for me is to troll around with a worm harness and a bottom bouncer. The wind, even tho not very strong, can push you around real fast in the kayak. If you're trolling, then you're in a better position to go where you want (or stay where you want). The worm harness performs best for all species for me, perhaps cause of the complete silence when I paddle. That's my two cents... Good luck! ;D

Kayaker You should try dragging a drop shot with a heavy weight on windy days.

Parry Sound is one of my favorite areas to fish and an awesome fishery. One of the only locations where lake trout reproduce naturally, amazing bass, pike and muskie. The walleye are also becoming a more frequent catch up there. 5weight - I hope you had a good trip. There some big water for a kayak, but lots of nice bays to duck into and drop a line.

One of the great things about Parry Sound is that there are places to fish and hide in bad weather. I plan a few trips during the winter.
