New boat....anything I need?
« on: February 15, 2021, 03:17:00 pm »
Hi there.  Just joined and I’m pretty happy about finding this spot!   Buying a new four winns HD2 OB.    While day sailing around the Meaford area,  I’m old and arthritic enough to move to power.

My new beast has a few things in the console ...
“Instrumentation, helm: multifunction digital gauges w/hour meter & GPS speed”

I don’t fish but my boat guy suggested a Hummingbird depth finder to keep off the rocky bits.

I carry a vhf all the time on the water.   Anything else?

Just looking for some insight from folks who’ve done it all before.

Cheers

Get a Ram Mount for a cell phone and download the Navionics Boating app so you can run that as a chartplotter while using your boat.  That will help keep you off the rocky bits and the shallow shoals that are around that area.
