Hi all. Frank here. Cottage in Lafontaine area for about 12 years, boat in Penetang. Boat is a sea ray cruiser but set up for down rigging salmon and trout.   We take it up north as well and use the 10 ft dinghy for fishing when we are there. Been fishing most of my 50 yrs, but not nearly enough in the last 5 yrs

Sounds like your set up for warm and cold water fishing. I hope you get more of it in this year.

Hey John, great forum...Bruce here...

Hi all - we are long time cottagers on Christian Island.  We have an 18 foot fishing boat and a CS22 sailing boat, both with downriggers.  Yes, we are rednecks...

We are now back fishing salmon after about 5 very dry years on the Bay.  Last year we did very well, even in the lee of Christian Island.

Good luck to all...

Hi All

My name is Geoff and I love to chase Pike, Walleye and Bass. I own a Bass Boat and I love Georgian Bay. Would like to retire in Sturgeon Bay area some day, been fishing for over 30 years. I live in New Hamburg and I'm happily married with 2 children 1 that likes to fish and the other a musician. I fish the Sturgeon Bay area 3-4 times per year, not enough! This forum is informative and I hope to see you on the water.

Hello all, I am Kevin , 53 small craft boater all my life. Just picked up a 20' I/O for the first time. Plan to slip it in Lions Head. It is a 1968 StarCraft Day Cruiser picked up from the widow of the original owner. 250 Mercruiser. Plans include to replace the soft floor and worn rug, reupholster the sleeps seats and rear seats and add two helmsman seats. The fiberglass is perfect as it was always stored inside. Came with down riggers and some outdated electronics. I will keep the installed fish finder as back up and add my new hummer 581 ID GPS fish finder and a new digital VHF.
I have always had a smaller boat and trailer-ed the small inland lakes.
I have taken the power squadron basic nav course, hold a VHF tag and plan to take the electronic nav course this winter.
Looking forward to trying some boating and fishing in the Georgian next summer.

Welcome cdn1972
Sound like you have some ambitious plans for your new boat but it should be worth in the end. One thing about fixing up an old boat is you know exactly what you have when your finished.

Good luck and good fishing.

Greetings everyone! My name is Josh, from KW. Weekend angler and ice fishing fanatic here! Spend quite a bit of time on the Simcoe board, but John was kind enough to point me to this site as I was in the search of some ice conditions, so thanks again John! These sites have become a staple in my daily routines based solely on the fact that there is so many great posts to read, and such good fishing reports! I look forward to reading many more and contributing to them as well. Cheers everyone!

Hi I'm Tony, from the bait and tackle store in Parry Sound. The season has begun I will try to let everyone know how the fishing is from time to time. Seems opening was cooler than normal, walleye and pike both being caught this weekend by the usual methods. Tony!

Hi folks - new to the board, weekender (sometimes a 'weeker'), our place is on the Bruce near Dyers Bay. Anyone else here fishing G-bay waters around here?

Been trolling up here since around '04 with a lot of ups and downs, but we are seeing a mostly positive trend over the past 2-3. Last year was our best ever, boating a lot of bigger & healthier kings, lakers and steelhead than we've seen before.

Looking forward to sharing and learning here and perhaps we'll see you out there.

Mostly chasing Walleye, but enjoy just catching whatever I end up with while drifting and casting/reeling.  It's just nice to be out on the water.  I have a small 14' aluminum boat .. hopefully get something bigger next spring.

Hey everyone,

I am a new cottager up in Big Bay near Colpoy's Bay. Been coming up for about 6 years to a friends, and wouldn't you know it, their neighbours wanted to sell last fall when we were up there vacationing. Now here I am!
Got a nice 17' Boston Whaler with Scotty Electric downrigger and love the fishing. Spring was great for Lakers but still have not found any salmon my neck of the woods.
Doesn't look like many guys are from my end of the bay, but I will keep reading.

Weekend is coming so looking forward to getting back on the water!

Hi, my name is Warren. I just discovered this board today by accident searching someone. I have been an member of Ontario Fishing Community (OFC) since it started in the late 90's.

Glad to see a board dedicated to GBay my favourite place on the planet. I have been camping and fishing the Moon Basin since 1988 and rent a cottage on 12 Mile Bay every summer with my family.

I target mainly Small Mouth Bass and have lucked into Walleye a few times in the Basin but not often.

Hello Everyone,
My wife and I are avid fisherman and prefer musky but also love smallmouth.   We are coming to Honey Harbour September 2nd to the 8th.   We have a musky guide booked for Sunday the 3rd.    Looking for any type of advice when musky fishing Honey Harbour and Port Severn area?

Any good musky tackle shops in those areas?

Appreciate any feedback.

Larry

Hey everyone
Iím sure a few of you have crossed paths with me before on Lake Simcoe Message Board and for those that havenít my name is Justin.
I moved to Tiny last June and had full intentions of fishing G.B. but I just couldnít leave my old stomping grounds on Simcoe especially since I started dialing in my downrigger /laker game.

But my confidence is up and I feel it is time to wet my feet or lines in this close to home body of water.
From what Iím told itís  An amazing fishery but takes some time to learn.

I have fished Penetanguishene Bay a few times for largies with good success and even caught a salmon outta Collingwood.
I mainly target bass and lakers but plan on a lot more salmon this year.

Anyways Iíll be paying close attention to this forum from here  on out so I can start the learning process but wanted to say hello and not be a troll.

Tight lines all and I look forward to chatting and meeting some of you fellow anglers

Hi all.  My name is Mark.  I'm an avid year round fisherman.  I live in the Kawarthas and do most of my summer fishing close to home, and winter fishing on Simcoe.

I just love the Parry Sound lake trout fishery!  But I have yet to experience it in winter.  Hoping to give it a try through the ice this year.  I didn't know this forum existed until I started looking for info on ice fishing that area.

Hi.... retired and downsized from the north (West Arm of Lake Nipissing) to Penetanguishene.  Have followed the board for a while and figured its time to register and add a post once in a while.  Spend the winters in Florida now so its soft water only.  Tight lines.....
