It is not unusual at this time of the year for overnight temps to drop below the freezing point. If there is no wind, this can result in ice covering a significant amount of the Bay by morning. Often just a few inches or less of ice but it makes trolling somewhat challenging. Normally the ice gets broken up and becomes a non-issue by 10:00 or 10:30 a.m. but by then the dawn "prime time" has ended. Obviously a pain to drive a good distance to the launch ramp and having to drop the boat into an ice covered harbour.

I've read a few of the responses by Kam Fienne to various threads started by other members. I am aware that old age on my behalf is likely a factor but I struggle to make the connections with fishing in any of the responses I've read. I've likely missed something along the line but would appreciate any guidance on this "issue".
