Is the ice out yet?  Dang its cold this year.  Boat launched and set up this weekend, but no time to go out yet.  Hopefully next weekend.

Canuck thanx for that info on the weather buoy. I would be interested where you go to get that info.

I fish out there a lot thru the summer. It looks like it will be a very slow start this year.

Where is that weather buoy located?  I know on the South side of Christian it was 45-47 degrees on Saturday.

If you text 45143 to the national Buoy data centre at +1 (866) 218-9973 , you get an immediate text back with live weather from that buoy.  Really cool.

That bouy is mid bay basically west or a bit north of Christian.  45137 is the one for the buoy just south of Manitoulin.

Got the first trip in this year Saturday AM.  Did not mark a lot but picked up a smaller salmon (5 or 6 lbs) and two lakers the same size.  All 3 fat and healthy looking.  Salmon was 50ft down over 150 so likely on its way somewhere.  Spotted some marks on bottom in a couple spots so dropped to the bottom and picked up the lakers.  Then headed in.  Water was pretty cold at all depths.  40 degrees below 90ft.  53 at the surface and about 45 down 50.  Open water between Methodist pt, Giantís tomb and Beckwith.
